Sustainable Travel Finland at Purnu
Purnu Ski Resort is committed to sustainable tourism and is actively developing its operations through the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) programme. The STF programme helps Finnish tourism companies improve environmental responsibility, social sustainability and long-term business practices.
At Purnu, sustainability means practical actions such as:
- Continuous waste sorting and recycling improvements.
- Monitoring and reducing environmental impacts from snowmaking, lifts and facility operations.
- Supporting local businesses, accommodation providers and community organizations.
- Maintaining safe, accessible and family-friendly services for all visitors.
- Providing staff training in responsibility and safety practices.
Purnu also holds the internationally recognized Good Travel Seal sustainability certification and achieved an excellent audit result, with 86% compliance with the certification criteria. The audit highlighted that responsibility is clearly integrated into the company’s day-to-day operations.
Our goal is simple: to offer memorable skiing experiences while protecting the environment, supporting the local community and ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy winter sports in Hartola.
